Germany is Officially in a Recession

The German economy shrunk by 2.2 percent in the first quarter of the year, exposing the level of damage that has been caused to Europe’s largest economy. This decline is the largest the Germans have experienced since 2009, and it puts the country into a technical recession after negative growth at the end of 2019, as well. The government is offering relief programs for workers, but the pain is likely not over yet.
