Japanese Prime Minister Proposes Postponing Tokyo Olympics by One Year

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he has suggested postponing the 2020 Tokyo Summer Games by one year in order to protect athletes from COVID-19. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has been reticent to discuss a postponement, but mounting global pressure seems to have the governing body reconsidering. Abe says the IOC agreed to a postponement, but no date has been set.
