World’s Second-Oldest Airline Files for Bankruptcy

As the world economy continues to suffer, Avianca Airlines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The world’s second-oldest airline – and the national airline of Columbia – cited the pandemic as the reason it has lost 80 percent of its income since March when it’s fleet of 140 planes was grounded. The company has 20,000 employees, most of whom are on leave.
